Turnstile kicked off their first of two 2026 Coachella performances on April 10th in Indio, CA, delivering an emotional set that blended celebration with tribute.
The appearance marked the band’s first show since a March 29th incident involving former guitarist Brady Ebert, who was arrested after allegedly striking William Yates, the 79-year-old father of vocalist Brendan Yates, with a vehicle. William sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg that required surgery. Ebert remains in custody facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault, though he has claimed the situation was an act of self-defense.
Despite the circumstances, the band opened their Coachella set with a pre-recorded message from William Yates himself, introducing the group to the crowd:
“I’m Bill Yates, I’m the proud father of Brendan. They’re all sons of mine… they’ve been practicing in the house for about 13 years now… and now they’re at a point where the larger the venue the better… To all the fans out there, we love you and Turnstile loves you—enjoy the ride.”
The moment set the tone for a performance that also paid tribute to the late Bo Lueders of Harm’s Way and the HardLore podcast. Lueders, who passed away on April 2nd, was honored with a message taped to one of the band’s amps, featuring his name inside a heart.
