Norwegian shape-shifters Ulver have unveiled their fourteenth studio album, Neverland, set to arrive digitally on December 31st, with physical editions following on February 27th. Described as a largely instrumental release, the band say this new chapter came with fewer boundaries than usual. As they explained, “With Neverland we embraced a more ‘punk’ spirit — more dreaming, less discipline — freer, quite simply.”
The album marks the group’s first since the passing of longtime keyboardist/programmer Tore Ylwizaker in 2024. Rather than bringing in a new member, Ulver opted to take on additional duties themselves. The lineup for Neverland includes:
Kristoffer Rygg – drums, percussion, electronics, synthesizer, vocals
Ole Alexander Halstensgård – programming, electronics, synthesizer
Anders Møller – percussion, drums
Jørn H. Sværen – synthesizer
Stian Westerhus – guitar, bass
Guest vocals were provided by Sara Khorami. Production was handled by Rygg and Halstensgård, with Møller overseeing the mix.
Ulver have also debuted a visualizer for the album’s lead single, “Weeping Stone”, now available to stream below.
