Boston post-hardcore veterans Vanna are celebrating two decades of their influential ‘The Search Party Never Came’ EP by revisiting the release with a brand-new re-recording.
Originally released in 2006, the EP helped establish Vanna as one of the standout acts in the post-hardcore scene. To celebrate the project’s 20th anniversary, the band has returned to the studio to re-record the entire release, with the updated version being titled ‘Search Party’.
The band shared the news on social media, explaining that the new recordings are designed to capture how these songs have evolved after two decades of live performances.
“We’re celebrating 20 years (and 2 months) of our record ‘The Search Party Never Came EP’ with a re-recording of the entire album affectionately titled ‘Search Party’.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! This updated recording not only sounds the way we’ve been playing these songs for the last 20 years live, but also includes our frontman Chris Preece on main vocals and it also includes bonus tracks ‘Long Lost (Intro)’ and ‘Red Hands, Blue River.'”
The updated version will feature the entire EP re-recorded, along with the additional bonus tracks ‘Long Lost (Intro)’ and ‘Red Hands, Blue River’. Fans can currently stream the updated versions of ‘A Dead Language For A Dying Lady’ and ‘Long Lost (Intro)’ across all major platforms.
Physical editions of ‘Search Party’ are also available for pre-order through the band’s webstore, including limited vinyl variants and a CD release.

- Side A/Side B tricolor vinyl — 500 copies
- Butterfly (green, orange, & bone) vinyl — 300 copies
- Glow in the Dark vinyl — 200 copies
- CD jewel case edition — 500 copies
The re-recorded collection is expected to arrive in October, with Chris Curran handling production duties for the new sessions.
Alongside the anniversary release, Vanna will also celebrate ‘The Search Party Never Came’ with a special run of shows featuring I Promised The World and Holder.
