VCTMS drummer and lyricist Meredith Henderson has issued her first public response following abuse allegations made by former bandmate Mike Joseph Clampitt, saying she is taking time to reflect before commenting further.
Henderson addressed the situation after Clampitt announced his departure from the nü-metalcore band on October 8, ending his five-year run with the group. In his statement, Clampitt accused Henderson of a pattern of alleged abusive behavior involving bandmates, crew members, and others connected to the band’s touring packages.
Acknowledging the public discussion surrounding the allegations, Henderson shared a brief message on social media.
“yes i’ve seen all that’s being said right now,”
“i’m reflecting on everything first before jumping to speak, but whatever happens a sincere thank you to everyone that’s supported myself or the band. I love you guys dearly.”
She also expressed appreciation for those who have reached out to check on her.
“Also biggest thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me it’s appreciated and doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Henderson has not publicly addressed the specific allegations in detail.
In announcing his exit from VCTMS, Clampitt described his decision as difficult but necessary, citing what he characterized as a longstanding pattern of mistreatment. His allegations included claims that Henderson berated bandmates and crew members, threw objects, publicly humiliated people, refused to pay individuals, placed others in dangerous situations, and used band funds for what he described as “inappropriate uses.”
Clampitt also acknowledged his own part in allowing the alleged behavior to continue, saying he and fellow member John had enabled the situation by not confronting Henderson sooner.
He added that the experience had affected his friendships, professional opportunities, and emotional well-being. Clampitt said he hoped speaking publicly would bring attention to the allegations and help lead to accountability.
Henderson’s statement marks her first public acknowledgment of the controversy. At this time, she has not provided a detailed response to Clampitt’s claims.
