VINTERSEA Premiere “Become The Wave” Video, Highlighting Kayla Dixon’s Powerful Debut

Portland, OR-based progressive metal outfit Vintersea continue to usher in a new era with the release of their latest single and video, “Become The Wave”, debuting today. The track marks another milestone for the band since welcoming vocalist Kayla Dixon last October, who replaced Avienne Low. That lineup shift first debuted with the single “Celestial Abscission”, and now “Become The Wave” further showcases the revitalized energy Dixon brings to the band.

Guitarist Riley Nix shared insight on the track’s significance and direction:

“If ‘Celestial Abscission‘ was our big bang out of the gate to show the world what Vintersea can do with our new vocalist, ‘Become The Wave‘ is a statement about where Vintersea is headed and what we want our music to represent. In some ways it is a return to form – melodic, brutal, groovy, and inspiring – but it is also different from anything you have heard from us before. Kayla brought huge energy, heartfelt performances, and some really unique tones that drove the song in a fresh direction from the outset.”

The accompanying music video was directed by bassist Karl Whinnery, who explained the creative process behind the visuals:

“I am super excited for people to scope out the video for ‘Become The Wave.’ We built a unique set in my garage, explored epic locations at the Oregon Coast, and tried a few things we have never done before. This is classic Vintersea, but with some new moves. Kayla crushed the vocal performance, and used techniques I’ve never heard before. We’ve played this song live on our last couple of tours, and it kills every show. I can’t wait for you all to hear what we can do.”

With “Become The Wave”, Vintersea continue to evolve their progressive metal sound, blending melody, heaviness, and experimentation, while fully embracing the fresh dynamics that Kayla Dixon brings to the band.
