Thrash metal stalwarts Toxic Holocaust have been forced to withdraw from their upcoming tour with Death Angel, Lions At The Gate, and Misfire due to injury. The band’s vocalist and guitarist Joel Grind revealed on October 31st that he recently broke his hand and will need time to recover. His full statement reads:
“HEY FRIENDS.
I’M SORRY TO REPORT THAT TOXIC HOLOCAUST HAS TO PULL OUT OF THE UPCOMING DEATH ANGEL TOUR.
LAST WEEKEND I HAD AN ACCIDENT AT HOME AND BROKE MY HAND. SADLY THAT MEANS I WILL NOT BE HEALED IN TIME FOR THE TOUR. WE HOPE NOTHING BUT AN AWESOME TOUR FOR NOT ONLY DEATH ANGEL, BUT ALSO LIONS AT THE GATE AND MISFIRE. MAKE SURE YOU GO OUT AND SUPPORT AND SHOW THEM SOME LOVE. I AM REALLY SORRY FOR THIS GUYS!!
ONCE I’M RECOVERED WE WILL BE WORKING ON SOME PLANS FOR 2026 AS WELL AS UPDATES ON THE NEW TOXIC RECORD…YES, THAT IS STILL COMING.
LOVE TO ALL.
JOEL”
Filling the spot left by Toxic Holocaust is Bay Area thrash veterans Vio-lence. Death Angel shared the following regarding the switch, emphasizing that the tour will feature the band performing their 1990 album Act III in full each night:
“Due to unfortunate circumstances, Toxic Holocaust will no longer be able to take part in the upcoming Death Angel Act III American Tour.
We’d like to thank our friends and Bay Area thrash brothers Vio-lence for stepping up on such short notice and more than filling in that gap!
This will be the first time that Death Angel and Vio-lence have ever toured together!
That, coupled with celebrating 35 years of Act III by performing it in its entirety every night, is reason enough not to miss this tour!”

VIO-LENCE Steps In for Toxic Holocaust on Death Angel’s Fall Tour After Joel Grind Injury
https://springgreen-caribou-353428.hostingersite.com/vio-lence-replaces-toxic-holocaust-death-angel-tour/
The worst substitute
Fuck yeah
Sad only one original member
Vio-lence karaoke!
Wish they were coming around here.
Now they can add forbidden and it was every show in the early 90s
Zack Alter FORBIDDEN. SACRED REICH. ah! The good ol’ days . 🤘
Zack Alter 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🦇🦇🦇🦇👍👍👍👍
Nashville!!!😎
I’m a child of the 80’s and love the bay area thrash scene, but I just can’t get into this band 🤷
Richard Jon Hartman See them live, it may change your opinion. I watched that happen to a buddy who said he couldn’t handle the vocal style. Live is a different experience.
Really wanted to see Toxic Holocaust again but this is a win.
Correction – the Sean Killian Vio-lence Experience. That ain’t Vio-lence. Joke!
Jason Von Grim
Sean can suck a bag of dicks
He blocked me awhile back
Thin skin
Elizabeth Coffman-StJulien Phil Demmel once said “there’s no Vio-lence without Sean”. Apparently Killian didn’t think the same. Hilarious and sad.
Jason Von Grim Sean is Vio-Lence. If those guys can play, I’m happy with the project. It’s not his fault that some of the original member are dipshits, or retired. I accept it. 🤷♂️ Sean is a survivor and I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing. I dont blame him for pushing forward with the project. There’s too many fans of Vio-lence to just throw it away. Definitely not a “joke” by any means.
The other original members are laughing at this, and doing just fine. Especially Flynn and Demmel. Enjoy your Vio-lence Karaoke band. 😂
There is no violence!!!
Hell Yeah
Welcome to VIO-LENCE
All the negativity in this thread about it only being Sean in the band,. I totally understand people’s aggravation about it. But if there’s one member of violence that is absolutely needed to sound like violence, it’s Sean and those unique vocals.
I saw them two years ago and Sean was the only original member then, but it was still great to hear these songs after all these years. They played all of “eternal nightmare”. The rest of the band did a great job. And Sean not only brought the energy and intensity in those vocals, but also worked the crowd like a true professional frontman.
Let the man fulfill his desire for playing live. He was diagnosed with stage 4 Liver Cirrhosis back in 2017, and we didn’t know if we were gonna lose him or not.
Brian Harris saw them at the Killian on command show, Then Maryland Death fest 22 with obituary and carcass as the ‘bonus show” because there were tornados etc, even saw them a week after we got home from that in Oakland, and both reunion shows at metro..Vio-Lence kills and its lame they didn’t get bigger than most of the other bands around here… Omni and the stone shows were brutal when we were kids
Zack Alter loved going to The Omni! Saw so many good bands there ie, Broken Man, Extinction, Aftershock, Epidemic, Horde of Torment, Kaos…..and so many other awesome bands. Plus the venue was always packed and the pits were fun and chaotic.
Troy Junkins hell yeah, entombed, dismember disincstnate, Death, Mercyful fate, . All the locals. The owner is trying to reopen it now. It’s a community center but they want to bring back the shows and we need venues bad
Brian Harris Right on!.. at this point i will take what i can get.. Been a fan since i was 12 years old and Eternal Nightmare came out, but never got the chance to see them. It is what it is. Those songs are still so killer and can’t wait to hear them live!
Just finally saw em with Dark Angel and they were great.👍
Nicholas Smith
Gonna be killer
That is an absurd upgrade, no offense to TH, but Eternal Nightmare’s one of the greatest thrash albums of all time.
Bad ass!
Violence is better anyway…🎸🔥🙉👍💪🤘🎤🎶
Violence? You meant The Sean Killian band. Don’t get me wrong, got respect for this band, but it ain’t Violence anymore without Perry, Deen, Phil….
Havok!
