A new technical thrash project bringing together several prominent extreme metal musicians has emerged under the name Void Sector Zero, with the trio now signed to Season Of Mist.
The group features Christian Münzner on guitar, known for his work with Necrophagist as well as his former stints with Obscura and Alkaloid. Joining him are vocalist/bassist Alex Weber of Revocation, Malignancy, and Exist, and drummer Gabe Seeber, whose credits include Decrepit Birth and Abigail Williams.
Münzner says the project represents a long-standing interest in technical thrash, citing classic acts such as Coroner, Voivod, Toxik, Martyr, Hexenhaus, and Aspid as early influences before he became immersed in technical death metal.
“We are excited to announce that Void Sector Zero has signed with Season of Mist. I’ve always wanted to play tech-thrash. I was listening to bands like Coroner, Voivod, Toxik, Martyr, Hexenhaus and Aspid before I got into technical death metal.”
Münzner also revealed that Weber and Seeber were among his first choices when assembling the lineup, pointing to the musical chemistry they developed during their time together in Obscura.
“When I decided to start my own band in this style, I thought of Alex and Gabe. Not only are they both great players, but I knew from our time in Obscura that we had great chemistry both on and off stage. We can’t wait to share our debut album with you very soon!”
The band are currently preparing their debut full-length, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2027 through Season Of Mist.
A trailer for the album’s lead single, “Vortex Divinium,” is scheduled to premiere this Saturday, September 26.
