Canadian sci-fi metal veterans Voivod have canceled their upcoming U.S. tour with BAT, citing a family health emergency.
The run was scheduled to take place in the immediate future, but the band announced on October 3 that they will no longer be able to make the planned dates.
In a statement to fans, Voivod explained that the circumstances prevent them from committing to a new window for the tour at this time.
“Dear Fans,
It is with heavy hearts that we must cancel the US tour dates with BAT due to family health emergency in the Voivod clan.
We would like to say postponed and give you a new time period but Voivod can’t commit to any dates right now.
Tickets will be refunded at point of sale, we ask fans to wait a few days until the ticketing systems have been alerted.
Thank you for your understanding and support.”
The cancellation comes during a difficult year for Voivod, with family health matters already affecting the band’s touring plans.
Earlier this year, a GoFundMe campaign was launched for the partner of vocalist Denis “Snake” Bélanger amid her battle with stage four colorectal cancer. Bélanger subsequently sat out the band’s European touring commitments while attending to a family matter, with former Voivod bassist Eric “E-Force” Forrest temporarily returning to the lineup.
The band have not indicated whether the canceled U.S. dates with BAT will eventually be rescheduled. For now, Voivod say they cannot commit to any replacement dates.
Fans who purchased tickets are being asked to allow several days for the ticketing systems to process the refunds.
