Danish progressive metal stalwarts VOLA have suffered a near-total loss of their touring infrastructure and musical equipment following a massive fire at a Copenhagen storage facility.
A Total Loss of Infrastructure
According to the group, the fire claimed more than just instruments. The lost inventory includes the band’s entire touring backbone: custom-built rigs, monitoring systems, recording gear, and a significant portion of their physical merchandise and vinyl archive.
In a candid statement shared with fans, the band detailed the gravity of the situation:
“Last week, a fire broke out at Nettolager, a storage facility in Copenhagen. The section of the complex where our unit was located was completely burned down. Everyone is safe, but everything that allowed us to function as a band is gone.
Most of our VOLA equipment was stored there. This was the whole infrastructure behind VOLA. Instruments, touring rigs, audio and monitoring systems, recording equipment, merch, vinyl, and years of accumulated tools built specifically for this project. Among the items lost are those that cannot be replaced, not to mention the immense time it takes to build these racks and systems.”
The financial impact is estimated at approximately 1.23 million DKK ($193,000 USD). While the band is insured, they noted that they expect to recover only a small fraction—roughly 200,000 DKK ($31,400 USD)—of the total value.
Impact on Crew and Future Tours
The loss extends to the band’s technical staff, many of whom lost personal tools required for their livelihoods. Despite the setback, VOLA has confirmed they will not cancel their upcoming international dates. The band is currently working to assemble a minimal functional setup to honor their February 2025 commitments in Japan and Australia, as well as their Latin American tour in March.
The group emphasized that the project is a collective effort, stating:
“Members of our crew lost essential tools required to do their work. Rebuilding even a minimal live setup also means enabling our front-of-house team to continue working and earning a living. This project has always been bigger than the people on stage.”
“We will not be deterred,” the band assured fans. “We will find a way to play the shows and keep moving forward.”
Community Support Initiatives
To bridge the gap between their insurance payout and the cost of rebuilding, VOLA has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a target of 1 million DKK. Within the first 24 hours, the metal community responded with over 500,000 DKK in contributions.

The incident occurred last week at the Nettolager complex. While local authorities report no injuries in the blaze, the section housing VOLA’s equipment was completely destroyed.
