Danish hard rock heavyweights Volbeat have officially announced their ninth studio album, God Of Angels Trust (aka ‘GOAT’), set for release on June 6th. This marks the band’s first full-length since parting ways with longtime guitarist Rob Caggiano in 2023. While now operating as a trio, their touring guitarist Flemming C. Lund (Michael Poulsen’s band Asinhell) stepped in to handle lead guitar duties for the recording.
Produced by Jacob Hansen (Amorphis, Fleshgod Apocalypse), the album was largely tracked live in the studio, capturing the raw energy that Volbeat is known for. Leading the charge is the new single “By A Monster’s Hand,” which has just premiered alongside a music video directed by Adam Rothlein, a longtime collaborator of the band.
Discussing the album’s creation, Michael Poulsen shared:
“In the past, I’ve taken a long time to write and obsessed over so many elements of the songs before finishing them. This time, I wanted to make a Volbeat record without thinking too much about it… There are no rules. I can do anything I want.”
He continued:
“In some ways, it feels like we’ve come full circle… It doesn’t feel like we’re doing our ninth studio album—it feels like we’re on our first album again, and there’s something really refreshing about that.”
