Wednesday 13 Announces New Album Mid Death Crisis for April Release, Drops “When The Devil Commands” Music Video

Wednesday 13 have set the release date for their upcoming goth rock album, Mid Death Crisis, which is scheduled for April 25th via Napalm Records. The album was produced by Alex Kane (Enuff Z’Nuff, etc.) and mixed by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Prong). The first single, “When The Devil Commands”, has just dropped, accompanied by a music video which you can check out below.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song’s lyrics, the band’s frontman, Wednesday 13, shared:

“Growing up in the 80s, I remember the satanic panic surrounding heavy metal music and the fear parents had about what their kids were listening to. My mother was always checking my cassettes to make sure I wasn’t possessed by the devil. The majority of the music I listened to didn’t contain those themes, but it was often accused of it.

When writing this song, I wanted to create lyrics that I thought would terrify my mother if she found them. I aimed for the lyrics to be blunt, with no ambiguity about their meaning… the Devil. It’s all in good fun, and we’re not planning on burning any churches anytime soon.”
