Year Of The Knife took the stage at Converge’s Saddest Day festival in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday night (December 14th), where the metalcore outfit surprised fans by unveiling a brand-new track during their set.
Fan-filmed footage circulating online captures the band performing the reportedly titled new song, “An Exercise In Pain,” which was introduced immediately after their intro, signaling a clear shift toward new material. The performance marked the group’s first known preview of fresh music in front of a live audience in quite some time.
As of now, Year Of The Knife have not released any new recordings since the devastating van accident in 2023 that resulted in serious injuries and placed the band’s future on hold. Saturday’s appearance — and the debut of new music — suggests the group may finally be moving into a new creative chapter following that life-altering event.
Footage of the performance, including the new song, can be found below.
