-(16)- Stream Black Flag Cover “Beat My Head Against The Wall” From Upcoming Covers Album

Sludge metal veterans -(16)- have shared a new preview from their forthcoming covers compilation, ‘Forgeries (72–84)’, this time taking on a classic from Black Flag.

The band have released their rendition of “Beat My Head Against The Wall,” originally appearing on Black Flag’s 1984 album ‘My War’, offering a more direct and familiar hardcore influence compared to the project’s earlier surprise teaser of a Bee Gees cover.

Vocalist/guitarist Bobby Ferry reflected on the band’s long-standing connection to Black Flag and the impact the track had on their sound.

“Black Flag’s ‘Beat My Head Against The Wall’ was my first real fracture. Punk stopped being us vs them. They turned the blade inward. It became me vs. me, and in retrospect, this song served as the template for the whole inception of (16). We formed in 1992, only eight years after this song was released. A majority of the notes we play can be traced back to this. Instead of ripping it off for 34 years, we finally surrendered and just covered it.”

‘Forgeries (72–84)’ is set for release on May 1st, with the full track listing confirming a wide range of reinterpretations from across punk, rock, and metal history.
