Aborted have officially parted ways with drummer Ken Bedene, effective immediately. The announcement arrived via the Belgian death metal band’s social media channels on April 16th, with no specific reason given for the sudden split. Bedene had served as the band’s drummer since 2010, contributing to multiple albums over his 15-year tenure.
The band stated:
“Effective immediately Ken Bedene is no longer a member of Aborted. The upcoming European tour is going forward as planned with blast duties being handled by none other than Kevin Paradis.”
Kevin Paradis, known for his work with Benighted and other extreme metal projects, will step in behind the kit for the band’s upcoming European dates.
While the band has not elaborated on the circumstances surrounding Bedene’s departure, rumors have circulated online suggesting serious allegations involving inappropriate behavior. At the time of publishing, Bedene’s Instagram profile appears to be deactivated, further fueling speculation.
Devin Swank of Sanguisugabogg addressed the situation in a public Facebook post, stating:
“When we toured with Aborted Ken was the only member in the band that really didn’t talk or hang with anyone and I’m pretty sure his wife even came to a show or 2 on the tour and Ian and Sven couldn’t be anymore cooler and always chatted and watched our sets.
I don’t know what possesses someone’s mind to have to even talk to a minor on nothing more than a fan and rolemodel level let alone make advances like he did. Dude deserves to be bound to a chair and the child’s parents should have free rein to do whatever they please to him for however long they want to.
Also if your kid is still in school under 18 or not and under your supervision they should actually be under your supervision; it’s within your rights as parents to know what your child is doing online and who they are talking to or hanging out with. If you’re sharing your parenting with another household and you catch something unacceptable and inappropriate that the co-parent doesn’t seem to have a problem with, call the judge because no child should be taken advantage of under any circumstances.
Seeing all this makes me sick and in my opinion I don’t think pedophiles are punished enough for their heinous acts, they deserve the worst kind of treatment until their pitiful life comes to an end”
