Fans waiting for a follow-up to Anthrax’s 2016 album For All Kings will need to exercise a bit more patience, as the thrash metal veterans have officially pushed back the release of their upcoming record.
Although mixing on the Jay Ruston–produced effort wrapped last November, the band are now targeting a late summer or early fall rollout. The album had previously been expected to arrive in May, but plans have shifted to a September release window.
Drummer Charlie Benante confirmed the updated timeline during a recent interview with Everblack, explaining:
“No, it doesn’t come out in May. We’re putting out our first song and video in May. The record is not coming out till September. We pushed it back a little bit. We just had to do a couple of other things to it. And then we had to, of course, get a release date set. So it got moved to September. And that’s it. It’s coming out in September, but the first song and video will be out in May.”
The yet-to-be-titled album will mark Anthrax’s first studio release in nearly a decade and continues their collaboration with producer Jay Ruston, known for his work with Stone Sour and Avatar.
More details — including album artwork, tracklisting, and the first single — are expected to emerge in the coming months.
