Doom metal trio Blood Of The Earth, featuring members associated with Thy Will Be Done, Crowbar and The Convalescence, have premiered a new version of their track “The Constellation.” The song arrives ahead of the band’s forthcoming EP, Beneath A Sky That Breaks, which they are independently releasing on Friday, October 23.
The newly unveiled rendition marks a significant evolution from the instrumental version that originally appeared on the group’s first EP, with the addition of vocals and lyrics helping reshape the track.
Keyboardist, percussionist and vocalist Katie Golden explained the changes behind the revamped song:
“‘The Constellation’ has transformed significantly since its original instrumental version on our first EP. Bringing lyrics and vocals into the song gave it a much deeper meaning and intensity, while the revisions allowed us to really explore what the song could become. It feels like we finally brought it to life in the way we always imagined.”
Guitarist and bassist Jeff Golden also highlighted the vocal interplay that helps distinguish the new version, pointing to the contrasting performances of J Costa and Katie Golden.
“‘The Constellation’ comes to life with atmosphere, haunting sounds, and heaviness from the vocals of both J Costa and Katie. They each bring something completely different to the song, and when those voices come together with the heaviness of the music, it gives the track a much stronger identity.”
With Beneath A Sky That Breaks on the way, “The Constellation” offers a preview of Blood Of The Earth’s evolving approach to doom metal, blending atmospheric textures and haunting vocal performances with a heavier foundation.
