Breaking Benjamin Debut “Something Wicked” Live At ‘Welcome To Rockville’ With New Drummer Brian Medeiros

Breaking Benjamin delivered multiple surprises during their May 9 set at the ‘Welcome To Rockville’ festival in Daytona Beach, Florida, including the live debut of a brand new song and the first performance with their latest drummer.

The multi-platinum hard rock outfit had spent the past week teasing “Something Wicked” through a cryptic countdown campaign, leading fans to speculate about what was coming. While the reveal didn’t arrive digitally as some expected, the payoff instead came live onstage during the band’s festival performance.

As seen in fan-filmed footage from the set, Breaking Benjamin premiered the new track “Something Wicked” in front of the Rockville crowd. The move marked a notable break from tradition for the band, who have historically avoided performing unreleased material live before studio versions become available.

A studio release for “Something Wicked” is now imminent, with a pre-save campaign already launched ahead of its official debut.

The performance also marked the band’s first show with new drummer Brian Medeiros, formerly of Red and Otherwise. Medeiros officially steps into the role following the temporary tenure of James Cassells of Asking Alexandria, who filled in behind the kit last year.

Addressing the lineup change, the band shared:

“We want to thank James for helping us in a time of need last year, a legend in the making! We welcome Brian to the stage with us moving forward on the road. We will see you tomorrow Rockville.”

Outside of the new material and the return of the band’s recurring Halo Master Chief stage appearance, the set also featured a reunion performance with Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf for their collaborative track “Dear Agony.”
