Coheed And Cambria Receive Key to the City in Hometown Celebration

Coheed And Cambria are being formally recognized in their hometown of Nyack, NY today, April 13th, as the village celebrates the band’s legacy with a special honor—and a day named entirely after them.

Platinum-certified and globally respected for their ambitious blend of progressive rock and concept-driven storytelling, the band will be presented with the Key to the Village by Nyack mayor Joe Rand this afternoon. The ceremony coincides with the town’s SpringFest Street Fair, where the group is set to play a short acoustic set before delivering a full performance later this evening at Hezekiah Easter Veterans Memorial Square.

A press release issued for the event confirms that April 13th will now officially be recognized as Coheed And Cambria Day in Nyack:

“SpringFest will also be Coheed and Cambria Day in Nyack. Internationally renowned rock band Coheed and Cambria will return to the Village of Nyack, the community that nurtured their talents and gave them their earliest notoriety, to accept the Key to the Village and celebrate April 13th as the newly declared Coheed and Cambria Day.
At the SpringFest Street Fair, Coheed and Cambria will perform a short acoustic set to commemorate the event. Vocalist and primary songwriter, Claudio Sanchez, is a Nyack High School Alumnus. The band got their start at a weekly youth event sponsored by the Nyack Center called the Backdoor that showcased their talents in front of an audience composed mostly of teenagers from all over the tri-state area.”
