Crowbar are preparing to get back to work on new music in early 2027, with the New Orleans sludge metal veterans planning their 13th studio album.
Vocalist and guitarist Kirk Windstein recently discussed the band’s plans during an interview with Metalcavern, revealing that the group intends to begin working on the follow-up to 2022’s ‘Zero And Below’ at the start of the new year.
“We’re ready to dive into the new Crowbar [on the] first of the year and just get this thing rolling, man.”
According to Windstein, the upcoming effort remains in its early stages. The band has yet to settle on an album title, and only a small amount of new material has been written so far.
However, Windstein expressed confidence in Crowbar’s songwriting process, noting that the group tends to work quickly once it gets rolling. Provided their schedules cooperate, the band isn’t expecting the writing process to drag on for too long.
The new record will follow ‘Zero And Below’, which arrived in April 2022. Crowbar have continued building their reputation as one of sludge metal’s enduring acts, with the band also experiencing renewed viral attention in recent months.
More details about the forthcoming album, including its title, recording timeline and potential release date, have yet to be announced.
