Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl gave melodic hardcore standouts Turnstile a major onstage shoutout during a surprise performance in Manchester, UK last week.
Although the Baltimore, MD band left the 2026 ‘BRIT Awards’ without a win, their momentum continues to grow following a breakout year that already included two GRAMMY Award victories and widespread praise from artists across genres.
During Foo Fighters’ intimate February 27th performance at the O2 Ritz in Manchester, Grohl paused before launching into “My Hero” to dedicate the song to Turnstile, highlighting both their success and shared hardcore roots along the East Coast scene.
“Tonight I’m gonna dedicate [‘My Hero’] to a band who I think is great and who might be here tonight in the audience — I’m not sure. But I’m very happy, coming from an old school, hardcore punk rock background on the East Coast in Washington DC, our neighbors in Washington, DC were from a little town called Baltimore, Maryland — not far, it’s only 45 minutes. So whenever I see someone from Baltimore doing something really great and enjoying the successes of their hard-earned work, I like to shout ’em out. So I’m gonna… let’s dedicate this one to the fellas, and ladies, in Turnstile. Let’s give this one up for Turnstile.”
Turnstile’s continued rise has seen the band earn recognition far beyond the hardcore scene, with high-profile supporters including Sir Elton John, Charli XCX, and numerous peers within rock and alternative music circles praising their impact and crossover appeal.
