Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson has offered a brief update on his forthcoming solo album, describing the effort as “heavy as shit.” The record is currently expected to arrive in 2027.
While the album will have some loose ties to Dickinson’s multimedia project ‘The Mandrake Project’, the singer says the new effort will largely stand on its own. During a recent interview with VSXproject, Dickinson explained:
“I’ve got a new record coming out next year, new solo album. It’s kind of standalone. There’s one song that has a bit of something to do with ‘Mandrake’. Now, the album is heavy as shit. I’m not digging into ‘Mandrake’. I think ‘Mandrake’ has a life now on a comic book level, so it can just go on the basis of story and everything else. I don’t need to associate music with it unless it’s a really good idea.”
Recording for the new album took place earlier this year, with sessions held throughout January and February.
Some of the recording was completed at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606, adding another notable connection to the upcoming release.
For now, further details regarding the album’s title, track listing and exact release date have yet to be revealed.
