DevilDriver has dropped a new song called “Wishing“, which you can find below. The track appears on the band’s upcoming new album Dealing With Demons, which will see its release on October 02nd. The track features vocalist Dez Fafara providing clean vocals for the first time with the band.
The parts were inspired by Sisters Of Mercy and Bauhaus. Fafara wrote the song about the possibility of losing his wife Anahstasia Fafara, who was diagnosed with skin cancer last year but has been given the all-clear after undergoing surgery. Fafara spoke with American Songwriter about the track, saying:
“[It] explores what it would be like without my wife-we’ve been together a long time, raised three kids, she’s my manager- and when I finished writing the song, we found out she had cancer so I must’ve had some premonition of what was going on, so this is the demon of loneliness.”
