Tetrarch guitarist Diamond Rowe brought heavy metal to the NFL on Sunday, October 11, performing a rendition of Metallica’s classic “Enter Sandman” during the Atlanta Falcons’ matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The performance was especially meaningful for Rowe, who has childhood roots in Atlanta. In a social media post following the appearance, she reflected on the opportunity to represent heavy music in front of a stadium crowd of approximately 70,000 people.
“WE DID IT. We brought heavy music to NFL Sunday Night Football.
What an awesome experience. I’ve dedicated my entire life to this instrument. Countless hours practicing, years of grinding, taking risks, making sacrifices, and chasing a dream that many (most I can still call by name) told us was impossible. But we continue to shatter those glass ceilings and moments like this remind me exactly why I’ve never once thought about quitting.”
Rowe explained that the Falcons invited her to suggest recognizable songs that could bring energy to the stadium. Metallica immediately came to mind, given the band’s influence on her musical journey and the role they played in inspiring her to pick up the guitar.
“The band that made me fall in love with heavy music and inspired me to pick up a guitar in the first place. To have the opportunity to pay homage to who I consider the greatest band of all time, in a STADIUM felt extremely fitting and was an absolute honor.”
The guitarist also thanked the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons organization and everyone who helped make the performance possible, including Josh Fore of Tetrarch, who she credited with handling the wah pedal behind the goalpost.
For Rowe, the appearance marked another milestone in her efforts to push heavy music onto bigger stages. She closed her message by celebrating the achievement and teasing a message for her musical heroes.
“We can officially check the @nfl off the bucket list yall! Now somebody tell the boys in Metallica!”
