Failure Share New Song “A Way Down,” A Tribute To The Cure & Siouxsie And The Banshees

Space rock veterans Failure have released a lyric video for their new single “A Way Down,” offering another preview of their upcoming seventh full-length album Location Lost.

The record is currently slated for an April 24th release through the band’s own Failure Records in partnership with Arduous Records. The new track follows February’s single “The Air’s On Fire,” which arrived alongside a music video directed by Sean Stout.

Lyrically, vocalist/guitarist Ken Andrews described “A Way Down” as a darker reflection on emotional disconnect:

“Another study in miscommunication and the resulting loneliness it often brings — no silver linings here.”

Andrews also revealed that the song serves as a direct musical homage to two of his earliest influences:

“Musically speaking, ‘A Way Down’ is an homage to two bands who actually got me to pick up the guitar and try to write my own music: The Cure and Siouxsie & The Banshees, specifically their early 80s periods with albums like ‘Juju’ and ‘Pornography’. I was captured by the angular guitar approach and the unapologetic dark atmospheres that dripped off those records.”

Fans watching closely may also notice a subtle nod to a classic ’80s British synth-pop/new wave track toward the end of the lyric video.

In support of Location Lost, Failure will launch the first leg of their upcoming tour next month, with All Under Heaven joining as direct support.
