Glenn Danzig is reportedly preparing to step behind the camera once again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the horror punk and goth metal icon is planning to direct a feature adaptation of his comic book series, ‘Hellmask’.
Casting for the project is said to already be underway, with filming reportedly slated to begin in August. If completed, the movie would mark the third time Danzig has adapted one of his comic book creations for the screen, following 2019’s Verotika and 2021’s Death Rider In The House Of Vampires.
Described as a swords-and-sorcery tale, Hellmask is expected to feature plenty of supernatural violence and bloody battles, staying in line with the dark fantasy themes that have long permeated Danzig’s work.
The project comes amid a busy period for the legendary frontman, who recently announced a fall U.S. tour that will conclude with a special September 26 show at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA featuring reunited sludge metal legends Acid Bath as direct support.
Further details regarding the Hellmask film have yet to emerge.
