Heartsick Release “Slave Labor” Music Video

by Seneca / Sunday, 20 September 2020 / Published in News

Heartsick has released a music video for their latest single, “Slave Labor“. The band offered the following comments regarding the track:

“The name says it all. Slave Labor, when we wrote this song it stood out as a really haunting track and we wanted to make sure the lyrics and melodies reflected a haunting and poignant meaning. We are living in a time in society where civil discourse is at an all-time high. Racism has begun to seep through the cracks of the foundation civil rights leaders like Dr. King and Malcom X built for our great nation.

We wanted to shine a small light onto the conversation of racism and the horrors that black Americans face daily here and the horrors their ancestors faced to get here. Lyrically the song takes you on a journey of a slave traveling to a land where they will never be the same again and their thoughts as they make their journey. Visually we wanted to show the power of our black females and the small aggressions they can face daily. We need to come together, fight the hate, fight the lies, and unify.

A huge thank you to the absolute pros at Hive Minds Media for all the amazing visual work! To our awesome actors Andrew Fecteau and @ationza.manae”
