Islander released a video for the title track of their latest album It’s Not Easy Being Human. The song features Lacey Sturm, formerly of Flyleaf. Mikey Carvajal, the band’s vocalist, offered the following on the video, which is available below:
“I had the opportunity to direct and edit our last few videos. There was no budget, and no film crews. All I have is an iPhone, passion, and iMovie. Thank you to my bandmates and @officiallaceysturm (and the friends in upcoming videos ) for trusting me as I stand there with an iphone saying “I’m gonna make a music video with this!” .
I’ve always loved film. I shot and edited the first few Islander music videos, so it’s nice to be doing this again. Remember friends, it’s not about how much money you have (we don’t have any). It’s about how much heart you have to make something with nothing. That’s what art is.
Also, we would like to say how grateful we are to the fans that sent in their videos to be included. We had a ridiculous amount to use and it would have to be a much longer song to have used them all, so we used them in the order they arrived to us until there was no more time in the song to fit them all in the video. We watched every one of them and thought about the times we’ve met you guys at our shows and about the real conversations and stories you’ve shared with us. You guys rule and there is no us without you.
Always love – Mikey“
