After a lengthy creative process, Anthrax frontman Joey Belladonna has confirmed that his vocals are officially finished for the band’s long-awaited follow-up to For All Kings. Work on what will be the legendary thrash metal outfit’s twelfth studio album has been underway in some capacity since the pandemic era, with returning producer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Avatar) once again behind the boards.
During a recent appearance on Rebel Radio 92.5 FM, Belladonna shared the latest update on the record’s progress:
“You know what? I finished the vocals. I’m really happy with what I’ve done. And the band sounds great on the record. And as far as I know right now, we’re still finishing up a few things. We’re not even mixing yet, so at this point I’d be just speculating [about a possible release date]. Obviously, things are going in the right form and the timing is right. So, all good. I’m happy. You’re gonna love it.”
Back in August of 2023, guitarist Scott Ian admitted he had been struggling to finalize the lyrics for the album, though Belladonna had already started laying down parts by year’s end. Now, with vocals wrapped, it seems the band are in the final stretch of completing the record.
No release date has been set as of yet, but the wheels are clearly turning.
