KATATONIA Release Their Cover Of KISS’ “A World Without Heroes”

Swedish progressive rock outfit Katatonia have unveiled their cover of the 1981 KISS classic “A World Without Heroes.” The track was recorded during the sessions for their latest album Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State, which arrived this past June via Napalm Records.

According to frontman Jonas Renkse, the song has always held special meaning for the band — and in light of the recent passing of former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, it’s taken on an even deeper significance.

“A final single from the ‘Nightmares…’ session, a cover of KISS’ ‘A World Without Heroes’ which is one of the songs we usually listen to in the dressing room before going on stage,” Renkse shared. “For us, it now also serves as a memory of Ace Frehley’s legacy. Nico’s rendition of his solo is nothing short of amazing! Also, this release includes Karin Park’s outstanding remix of ‘Wind Of No Change.’ Enjoy, and come see us in Europe this fall/winter!”

Both the “A World Without Heroes” cover and Karin Park’s remix of “Wind Of No Change” can be streamed below.

Katatonia are currently out on tour in Europe and the UK alongside Evergrey and Klogr, with North American dates scheduled for early 2026 — including a co-headlining trek with Opeth.
