Despite recent comments suggesting a new album isn’t currently at the top of the agenda, activity behind the scenes indicates Korn may still be moving forward with fresh material. Earlier this month, guitarist Brian Welch mentioned that assembling the band’s fifteenth studio record wasn’t an immediate priority — a statement that didn’t sit particularly well with portions of their fanbase.
However, new signs of progress surfaced after renowned mixer Chris Lord-Alge shared a studio photo on February 14 featuring Korn guitarist James Shaffer alongside producer Nick Raskulinecz. The latter previously collaborated with the band on their 2019 effort The Nothing.
Lord-Alge hinted at the nature of the session in his caption:
“What a blast with Nick Raskulinecz and Munkey mixing Korn!! Heavy badass rock !!!”
Exactly what the work pertains to has not been clarified — whether it’s tied to a future full-length, standalone material, or another project entirely — but the development suggests creative momentum is underway. Regardless of the final destination, the update signals that new Korn-related output may be closer than previously implied.
