Madball Target May Release For Tenth Album ‘Not Your Kingdom’

NYHC veterans Madball are preparing to return with their long-awaited tenth studio album, confirming plans for a spring release titled ‘Not Your Kingdom’.

The record will serve as the follow-up to 2018’s ‘For The Cause’ and will once again arrive via Nuclear Blast. While fans have faced a longer-than-expected wait between albums, vocalist Freddy Cricien recently revealed that production setbacks — including dissatisfaction with the initial mix — contributed to the delay.

Speaking during an interview with HardLore, Cricien shared early details about the direction and presentation of the new material:

“It’s called ‘Not Your Kingdom’. And I predict that you’re gonna love the cover. It’s a very throwback vibe. [It has] a nostalgic feel to it, but it’s also current. It’s very in line with the lyrical content and the message. And it’s by far the most diverse Madball album, even more so than ‘For The Cause’, which I thought we did a lot of different stuff on.”

He continued by explaining how the band expanded their sound while maintaining their core identity:

“Obviously, you wanna hear our sound, but I like that we were venturing out and doing different stuff on that one. And this one is — yeah, there’s some songs that are reminiscent of ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’. It’s very eclectic in the best way, I think. It’s gonna be for the people to judge. But I’m super proud of it. Writing with these guys was very natural. We all were hungry. It’s been 2018 since we put out an album.”

Cricien also confirmed that the album is finally locked into the label’s release pipeline after multiple setbacks slowed progress:

“May. It kept getting pushed back because of just nonsense. The album was done, but then we had to get it remixed, ’cause we didn’t like the first mix. And then artwork got held up. And then you gotta wait for it to go into the Nuclear Blast system… So now it’s finally in the system, and it’s gonna come out in May.”

The band had previously suggested a March release window, with a lead single titled “Tethered” originally expected late last year. When neither arrived, fans began questioning the timeline — though concertgoers may have already heard the track live, as Madball have been performing it onstage since at least September 2025.

With the album now officially scheduled, ‘Not Your Kingdom’ marks Madball’s first studio release in seven years and signals a new chapter for one of New York hardcore’s longest-running acts.
