Periphery drummer Matt Halpern has announced that he will be sitting out the band’s upcoming tour with Spiritbox due to family commitments. In a statement shared to fans, Halpern emphasized that everything is fine both personally and within the band, but that family must take priority at this time.

Halpern shared the following message:
“Hey everyone! Matt here… I wanted to let you know that I’ll be sitting out our upcoming tour supporting Spiritbox. I have some important family-based commitments here at home, and after discussing at length with the guys in the band and our team, we’ve decided that family should come first and should take precedence.
All is good with the band and at home, so please don’t be concerned in any way, AND, I’m pleased to say that our very good friend Anup Sastry is going to be filling in for me on the tour, which means the shows will absolutely rip! He’s an amazing drummer and close pal of the band, so if you get to check out one of the shows, you’ll be in for a treat. Thanks very much for your understanding in the matter, and make sure to grab tickets to the tour now at periphery.net. Cheers!”
Anup Sastry, known for his work with Monuments, Intervals, and Marty Friedman, will handle drums on the run.
Periphery will join Spiritbox and Honey Revenge on the road later this fall, marking one of the season’s most anticipated heavy tours. Fans can catch the bands on the following dates:

Anup Sastry dat you dawg?
It was the first name that came to mind and the only one that made sense before I even read the article. That’s awesome. That’s going to be a unique kind of periphery tour. Halpern and Sastry are two different animals breaking out the same cage. I love this.
