German blackened deathcore outfit Mental Cruelty have announced the details surrounding their next studio album, ‘Echoes Of A Forlorn Land,’ while also premiering a new music video for “Raise The Raven Banner.”
Inspired by Norse mythology, the band’s latest full-length is set to arrive on October 23rd through Century Media. Jens Bogren (Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth) handled the record’s production, mixing and mastering.
The album finds Mental Cruelty exploring stories surrounding Odin, Loki, Thor and other figures from Norse mythology. The band also traveled to Estonia to work with Riivata Visuals on the new “Raise The Raven Banner” video.
Mental Cruelty commented:
“Since we’re writing about Odin, Loki, Thor and their kin, we figured we better get some Scandinavians on board. Enter our Swedish friend Jens Bogren, who mixed and mastered the album to great impact. The same goes for the video for ‘Raise the Raven Banner.’ We hold ourselves to the highest standards when it comes to visuals, making sure they match and elevate the music.”
The group continued by discussing their upcoming touring plans, which will include their first-ever European headline run.
“Our album release tour and very first headline tour ever features further labelmates, Ov Sulfur on their inaugural European run, alongside Extermination Dismemberment, Acranius, and Sun Eater.”

Following an August 22nd appearance at Music Forge Festival in Germany, Mental Cruelty will embark on their first European headline tour this fall. Ov Sulfur and Extermination Dismemberment will join the band throughout the run, with Sun Eater and Acranius appearing on select dates.
