MÖTLEY CRÜE’s Vince Neil Reveals He Suffered A Stroke Last Christmas, Says He Had To Relearn How To Walk

Earlier this year, MÖTLEY CRÜE were forced to postpone their Las Vegas residency, originally scheduled for March and April. At the time, frontman Vince Neil cited health issues, with the band’s camp noting he required an “unspecified medical procedure.” On March 4th, Neil issued a statement apologizing to fans and stressing that his recovery was his top priority so he could return to the stage.

Now, Neil has revealed the true extent of his condition. Speaking with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the 64-year-old vocalist confirmed that he suffered a stroke on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2024.

Neil explained that while he felt fine during the holiday, he woke up that night unable to move the entire left side of his body.

“I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough. The doctors said they didn’t think I’d be able to go back on stage again. I go, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it. Watch and see.’”

The singer described months of intense physical therapy that saw him progress from needing to be carried, to a wheelchair, to a walker, then a cane — and finally, walking unassisted again. Neil shared:

“It takes a while to get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do. You try to walk but it doesn’t come out right.”

As part of his rehab, Neil even took on ladder agility drills with a local football coach, saying:

“I’ve been doing that a lot, a lot of running — I learned how to run again. It’s been tough, but I’m back, I’m 90-, 95-percent to where I was before, and it’s going to be great.”

Neil returned to the stage last month and kicks off MÖTLEY CRÜE’s rescheduled Las Vegas residency tonight at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The run continues on the following dates:
