Reunited progressive metal outfit Nevermore have revealed that ongoing work permit complications are currently preventing the band from returning to U.S. stages. The group shared an update on March 27th explaining that visa delays affecting members of their newly assembled international lineup have disrupted their immediate touring plans.
Earlier this year, founding guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams officially relaunched the band with a revamped roster. Joining them are vocalist Berzan Önen (Inner Urge, My Torment), guitarist Jack Cattoi and bassist Semir Özerka (Oceans Of Slumber, Necrofier). However, securing the necessary authorization for some members — particularly their new singer — to legally perform in the United States has taken significantly longer than expected.
As a result, Nevermore have been forced to withdraw from their scheduled appearance at this September’s ‘ProgPower USA’ festival. The band addressed fans directly in a statement explaining the situation and outlining their current plans moving forward.
“A MESSAGE FOR OUR US FANS
We hear your requests for a US tour loud and clear, and we want it to happen just as much as you do. The reason it hasn’t yet is simple – getting the work permit for our singer is taking much longer than anticipated. We’ll get it done, but unfortunately we aren’t quite there yet.
Sadly, it also means that we won’t be able to perform at ProgPower USA this year.
Sincere apologies to Glenn, the ProgPower USA crew and our US fans, and thanks for understanding.
New music is forthcoming, and we’ll finally be back on stages in the states performing it live in 2027. We owe it to all of you and promise we’ll make it worth the wait.
In light of all of this, we are actively booking more international shows for later this year. Announcements for those will happen soon.”
While U.S. fans will have to wait a bit longer for the band’s live return, Nevermore confirmed that new music remains in the works and that additional international performances are currently being planned for later in 2026.
