GRAMMY Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz has launched his new singles-focused label Hiss Recordings, with shoegazing outfit Doom Mutual becoming the imprint’s first outside artist signing.
Raskulinecz, whose production credits include Deftones and Foo Fighters, recently introduced the label with his own solo single “Bonfire,” which featured members of Korn and Big Wreck.
Now, Doom Mutual have kicked off their relationship with Hiss Recordings with a new two-song single featuring “Static Planet” and “Crowbar.” A newly released music video for “Static Planet” accompanies the tracks.
The band offered some insight into “Crowbar,” explaining:
“It’s about searching for connection in a world that feels distant and artificial. We wanted the music to feel like a blanket of sound — massive and overwhelming — like trying to find a signal through endless noise.”
The new label is expected to primarily focus on releasing 7″ singles from artists Raskulinecz personally enjoys, with the producer also handling production and mixing duties on Doom Mutual‘s new material.
Speaking with Revolver about bringing the band into the fold, Raskulinecz said:
“They have a really cool sound that needs to be heard! I think people will really dig what they are about. Super creative, and they have a great sound that’s different from what’s happening now.”
With Doom Mutual now serving as the first artist signed outside of Raskulinecz himself, Hiss Recordings is officially underway with a format centered around concise, physical single releases.
