Canadian rock veterans Nickelback have teamed up with multi-platinum rapper/actor Megan Thee Stallion to put a spicy twist on their 2001 hit “How You Remind Me” for Cheetos’ Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle campaign. The reworked track features updated lyrics reflecting the snack’s return, while Megan adds her own Cheetos-themed verses over the iconic melody.
The collaboration is paired with a 4-minute ad/video titled “Pickle’s Back”, which depicts Nickelback and Megan pulling off a heist at Cheetos headquarters. On the partnership, Megan shared with Billboard:
“I know it sounds crazy and it looks crazy, but when you put it together, it’s like, ‘Wow, I did not know my two worlds needed to collide like this.’ I grew up listening to a song like ‘How You Remind Me.’ It’s just in your brain. You hear it on the radio, TV shows—you just know it. So when I got the opportunity to remix it, I was like, ‘What does Megan Thee Stallion bring to this song?’
It was very fun figuring out how to Meg-ify Nickelback. They were super excited too, which shocked me. We were both fangirling, and when it was done, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’d definitely listen to this. If it wasn’t me, I’d be listening to this.’”
This playful mash-up highlights Nickelback’s classic rock sensibility while letting Megan’s rap flair shine, making for a nostalgic yet hilariously over-the-top campaign celebrating one of Cheetos’ spiciest flavors.
