The remaining original members of Black Sabbath — Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — have issued emotional statements following the death of their longtime bandmate and heavy metal pioneer Ozzy Osbourne.
The four musicians, all originally from Aston, Birmingham, helped shape the sound of metal as we know it. Together, they built the foundation of Black Sabbath, becoming a genre-defining force that influenced generations of artists. Fittingly, Iommi, Butler, and Ward were also the last musicians to perform onstage with Ozzy during his final public appearance at the ‘Back To The Beginning’ benefit show held earlier this month at Villa Park — an event that raised hundreds of millions for charity and served as a powerful tribute to the band’s legacy.

In a post shared to social media, Tony Iommi expressed his devastation:
“I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park.
It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother.
My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz.”
Geezer Butler reflected on their lifelong connection:
“Goodbye dear friend — thanks for all those years — we had some great fun. 4 kids from Aston — who’d have thought, eh?
So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston.
Love you.”
Bill Ward, who had been largely absent from the stage in recent years, offered a poetic farewell:
“Where will I find you now? In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls, no, you’re forever in my heart.
Deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members. RIP.
Sincere regrets to all the fans. Never goodbye. Thank you forever.”
Ozzy Osbourne passed away earlier this morning (July 22nd) at the age of 76. His family shared the news with the following message:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.
Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis”
