Ozzy Osbourne Documentary ‘No Escape From Now’ Set to Premiere on Paramount+

A new feature-length documentary on heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has been picked up by Paramount+ and is expected to debut later this year. Titled Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, the film offers an in-depth look at the trials and tribulations the iconic frontman has endured since his life-altering fall in 2019.

A press release for the documentary states:

“Paramount+ today announced the production of Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, a new feature-length documentary that peers behind Ozzy’s public persona to reveal the devastating setbacks he has faced since his fateful fall in 2019. Currently in production, the project is slated to premiere on Paramount+ later this year.

This is Ozzy Osbourne like you’ve never seen before: an honest, warm, and deeply personal portrait of one of the greatest rock stars of all time, detailing how the singer’s world shuddered to a halt six years ago, forcing him to contemplate who he really is, confront his own mortality, and question whether or not he can ever perform on stage one last time.

Addressing his health issues and the impact of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, the film showcases the central role music continues to play in Ozzy’s life—while proving that his mischievous sense of humor remains resolutely intact despite it all.”

Reflecting on his struggles, Ozzy shared:

“The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through. There’s been times when I thought my number was up. But making music and making two albums saved me. I’d have gone nuts without music.”

The film is being directed by BAFTA-award winner Tania Alexander and began production in early 2022 during the recording of Ozzy’s GRAMMY-winning album, Patient Number 9. Filming is set to continue into the summer, capturing his preparations for what is expected to be his final live performance—a farewell show with his Black Sabbath bandmates at a sold-out Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, on July 5th.

Speaking about the upcoming event, Ozzy added:

“My fans have supported me for so many years, and I really want to thank them and say a proper goodbye to them. That is what the Villa Park show is about.”

The documentary will offer an intimate look at Ozzy’s life, featuring appearances from his family, including Sharon Osbourne and their children, as well as a lineup of key figures who have played a role in his career. Among those set to contribute are Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Zakk Wylde, producer Andrew Watt, and musician Billy Morrison.

Sharon Osbourne shared her thoughts on the project, stating:

“This film is an honest account of what has happened to Ozzy during the last few years. It shows how hard things have been for him and the courage he has shown while dealing with a number of serious health issues, including Parkinson’s.

It’s about the reality of his life now. We have worked with a production team we trust and have allowed them the freedom to tell the story openly. We hope that story will inspire people that are facing similar issues to Ozzy.”

At 76 years old, the Prince of Darkness is preparing for what could be his final bow on stage. With his health complications from Parkinson’s and the long-term effects of his 2019 fall leaving him unable to walk unassisted, this upcoming farewell show may mark the end of an era for one of heavy metal’s most enduring icons.
