Matty Matheson’s Hardcore Band PIG PEN Debuts With “Mental Mentality”

Pig Pen, the newly formed hardcore group fronted by celebrity chef and actor Matty Matheson (The Bear), have dropped their debut single “Mental Mentality”. The track marks the band’s first release via Flatspot Records, with their debut album Mental Madness set to arrive on June 27th.

The band made their live debut last month and features a stacked lineup including Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire, etc.) on guitar and backing vocals, Daniel Romano on guitar, Ian Romano on drums, and Tommy Major on bass. The album was written three years ago, entirely self-produced by the band, and later mixed by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Soulfly).

Speaking on the lyrical inspiration, Matheson shared:

“You can be having a beautiful day, surrounded by friends, and your brain can continuously ruin it. No matter how good or bad your life is, you can still hate yourself. I’ve got to ask myself why am I feeling the ways I’m feeling?”
