On August 5th, platinum-selling German industrial metal band Rammstein released a statement in German, which, when translated, primarily thanked their fans for their support following the end of their European tour. The statement also addressed ongoing serious allegations against the band.
Over the past year, accusations have surfaced involving sexual misconduct and drugging incidents at afterparties hosted by the band’s vocalist, Till Lindemann. Although German prosecutors began an investigation, it was closed in August 2023 due to challenges in verifying the claims and insufficient witness cooperation.
In their latest statement, Rammstein indicated that they are still addressing these allegations, describing many as “baseless and grossly exaggerated.” It remains unclear whether they are pursuing legal action or managing the repercussions affecting their careers and personal lives.
The band’s translated statement reads:
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our fans, friends, and concertgoers. Your support and warmth during our 2024 tour were deeply felt and emotionally uplifting. Playing for you has reignited our joy in music and performance. Every concert was a healing experience for us, and we appreciate your role in that.
We continue to address the allegations made against us since last summer. Although we believe many claims are unfounded and exaggerated, this process is ongoing and personal to each band member. We are grateful to our families and loved ones for their unwavering support during this challenging time.
We also want to thank our crew, management, and everyone who supported us through this journey. After 135 concerts over five years, our massive stadium tour has concluded. The journey continues.”
Meanwhile, Till Lindemann is involved in a legal battle with the German publication Spiegel over a June 10, 2023, article alleging sexual misconduct at band-related parties. Initial reports included a claim that a woman’s drink was drugged at a May 2023 afterparty. Bandmate Christoph Schneider expressed shock over the allegations but stated he did not believe any criminal behavior occurred.
As the controversy grew, additional allegations surfaced, including claims against keyboardist Christian “Flake” Lorenz. Lindemann has pursued legal action against Spiegel, resulting in a court-imposed ban on suggesting he drugged women for sexual purposes. Lindemann’s legal team recently accused Spiegel of document falsification and attempted fraud.
According to Lindemann’s legal team, discrepancies in affidavits submitted by Spiegel led to a criminal complaint against the publication, alleging that some affidavits were tampered with and did not accurately reflect witness statements.
The ongoing legal issues underscore the complex and contentious nature of the allegations and the band’s response.
Today (August 7th), Lindemann posted a poem on Instagram that many interpret as a potential hint that he may be stepping away from the band:
Everything has its time
Here I am now, very ready
nothing can stop me from walking
the past throws up wrinkles
better later than too late
if unfortunately it no longer works
you should grab a hat and coat
to venture out into the wide world
new view, away from the old
look for new shores
smeared with guilt fades into atonement
need new colors new stages
I don’t ask for your understanding
I don’t need any other dish either
the verdict was already made that day
before asking me about the night
only light there in times of need
Torches like in “ROSENRED”*
Words and mood chilled
I’ve never felt so lonely
life is in shambles
continue further into ruin
The forest burned
Nothing left to clear
but ash is the best soil
to get out of it hopefully
I bow here with full thanks
So it’s not easy to leave
The time with you was really nice. With love and respect
Till
