Reflections have officially released their final studio album, ‘Crystal Eyes,’ bringing an end to the Minnesota-based progressive metalcore band’s run amid the internal turmoil that led to multiple lineup departures earlier this year.
Released on July 17, the 10-track effort features material written and recorded between 2020 and 2026, serving as the band’s final statement following months of public controversy and personnel changes.
The album’s arrival follows the exits of primary songwriter and guitarist Patrick “Patty” Somoulay and bassist Francis Xayana, both of whom announced their departures in January after tensions emerged with vocalist Jake Wolf.
At the time, both former members cited disagreements surrounding Wolf’s support of ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) as a major factor in their decision to leave the band.
In a statement shared following his departure, Xayana said:
“Jake is an ICE apologist and I will not fuck with someone like that. I don’t give a flying fuck what we’ve been through. I cannot trust a person who thinks this is necessary. And honestly fuck you if you support this ICE shit. You’re a fucking bitch.”
Xayana also claimed that Wolf maintained control of the band, further highlighting the internal divisions that ultimately contributed to the group’s dissolution.
Despite the departures, ‘Crystal Eyes’ was completed using contributions from several musicians. Song credits reveal additional guitar work from Elliot Merriman, Jake Wolf, and Josh Solvedt, alongside parts originally recorded by Somoulay. Drums for the album were overseen by Wolf, Nick Lona, and Merriman.
