Las Vegas screamo outfit Roman Candle are wasting no time keeping momentum on their side. The band have unveiled a brand-new single, “Lady Lazarus,” arriving just one week after their industry-critique track “Bite Harder Than You Bleed.”

Where the previous release took aim at the darker corners of the music business, “Lady Lazarus” shifts focus toward confronting misogyny head-on. Vocalist Piper Ferrari opened up about the inspiration behind the song, explaining its deeply personal roots and literary connection to Sylvia Plath’s poem of the same name.

“‘Lady Lazarus’ is me confronting misogyny head-on and refusing to shrink for anyone. The title comes from the Sylvia Plath poem, and like her, I’m pulling something powerful out of something painful. Lines like ‘Tender when I wanna be / Callous when I have to be’ came from recognizing how women are expected to bend, soften, or apologize just to exist – but also how we learn to harden ourselves for survival.”

Ferrari continued, clarifying that the song’s biting lyrics aren’t about hostility, but reclamation:

“When I sing ‘Give me your dead stare, I eat men like air,’ it’s not about hating men – it’s about reclaiming the space that was denied to me, the anger I was taught to bury, and the fear I was meant to carry. This song is the sound of unlearning all of that. It’s rage, it’s release, and it’s me deciding I’m no longer shrinking out of anyone’s comfort.”
