Russian Circles have unveiled “Eluvial,” the second single from their forthcoming album ‘Nine’, due out August 28 via Sargent House.
Arriving alongside a new music video, “Eluvial” continues to showcase the acclaimed post-rock trio’s signature combination of atmospheric textures, intricate musicianship, and massive instrumental crescendos.
While the band has yet to offer direct commentary on the track, a press release described “Eluvial” as the centerpiece of ‘Nine’:
“‘Eluvial’ is Nine’s grand centerpiece. The patiently cataclysmic track is centered around the kind of ping-ponging delayed guitar patterns that Brian Eno and The Edge developed for The Joshua Tree, with guitarist Mike Sullivan slowly unfurling a winding, linear melody against the backdrop of drummer Dave Turncrantz’s Latin-rhythm-inspired groove and Brian Cook’s pairing of grinding bass and stuttering electronics. ‘Eluvial’ slowly builds to an apex, leaving only the vaguest breadcrumb trail of obscured percussive and melodic motifs to the song’s final cleansing tempest.”
‘Nine’ will arrive on August 28 through Sargent House. In support of the release, Russian Circles will hit the road this fall for a North American tour featuring support from Pelican and Primitive Man.
