Fans waiting for Slipknot’s elusive Take A Look Outside Your Window can finally breathe a sigh of relief: the band’s percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan has confirmed the album is slated for release in 2026.
Speaking on December 3rd during a Discord Q&A tied to his new Slipknot-themed Minecraft project, Clown addressed the long delays:
“Lets start with LOYW, i know I told everyone it would be this year. I’m very sorry it hasn’t been. Things come to play that change things all the time with the art we create. I want you to know 2026 is the year. It’s just simply time and I’m just getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith. I promise.”
Originally recorded during the 2008 sessions for Slipknot’s fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, the album was created as a side project by Crahan, vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, and turntablist Sid Wilson. Unlike traditional Slipknot releases, the eleven-song record explored a more experimental, melodic approach, with members describing it as having a “Radiohead vibe.”
In 2019, Corey Taylor explained:
“The stuff from ‘Look Outside Your Window’ is really, really — I mean, there’s no real way to describe it. It’s experimental, but it’s super vibey, super melodic. It’s really good. It’s hard to explain. There’s something about those songs. They’re very solemn, very energetic, very artistic. For people who are used to a certain way of Slipknot sounding, this doesn’t sound anything like that. It’s much more of a rock vibe. Honestly, it’s much more of a Radiohead vibe, to be honest.”
Over the years, multiple release windows have come and gone, including Christmas 2019, 2023, 2024, and even rumors for 2025. Crahan has stated that the album has been mixed, mastered, and had artwork approved, but external factors—such as a reported $120 million deal selling a stake in the band’s royalties and publishing—may have complicated its release.
With Clown’s latest announcement, however, fans can finally anticipate the experimental, long-awaited album hitting the public in 2026.
