Slipknot may be gearing up to announce a new tour, with a mysterious teaser campaign now appearing in multiple cities and circulating throughout the band’s fan community.
A website at unlock.slipknot1.com features the band’s logo alongside the numbers 09 and 28, prompting speculation that something related to the masked metal group’s live plans could be revealed on September 28.
Advertisements connected to the campaign have reportedly been spotted in San Francisco, California; Hershey, Pennsylvania; Houston, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles, California; Toronto, Ontario; Bogotá, Colombia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Mexico City, Mexico.
The apparent tease comes as Slipknot continue work on their eighth studio album. The band have been tracking the record with producer Matt Wallace, whose previous credits include Faith No More and Mushroomhead.
While Slipknot recently surprised fans with their new single “Arsenal,” that track is not expected to appear on the forthcoming album. Guitarist Jim Root has described “Arsenal” as a standalone release, while also confirming earlier this month that recording sessions for the new record were still underway.
With the album apparently still in production, the September 28 date featured in the new teaser could instead point toward a tour announcement or another upcoming band-related reveal. At this point, Slipknot have not officially confirmed what the campaign is building toward.
