Belfast, Ireland-based Survivalist have officially joined the Seek And Strike Records roster and are celebrating the announcement with a new music video for “A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone.” The track serves as the title cut from the band’s new album, which arrived today through the label.
The self-described ‘groovecore’ outfit’s latest release features guest appearances from Alex Koehler (Ameonna/ex-Chelsea Grin), Kid Bookie, and more, marking a major step forward after years of self-releasing material.
Speaking on the signing, the band emphasized both the importance of finding the right label partner and their desire to elevate Ireland’s heavy music scene:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be signed to Seek and Strike. All four of us have always wanted to do this properly and take it as far as it can go—not just for ourselves, but to help shine a light on the heavy and alternative scene in Ireland, which we feel deserves far more recognition. After self-releasing all of our music, we knew the next step was finding the right partner.”
They added that Seek And Strike immediately stood out as a label aligned with their vision:
“From the very first conversation, it was clear that Seek and Strike genuinely believed in what we’re doing. Being part of a label that’s helped grow bands we listen to is incredibly motivating, and it truly feels like a mutual partnership.”
The band selected “A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone” as the lead single because it best captures the emotional core of the album, describing the record as both punishing and cathartic:
“The album is heavy, dark and aggressive, but it’s also meant to be a refuge—a place you can turn to no matter what headspace you’re in. Whether you need to vent anger, sit with sadness or just feel understood, this track captures the mental weight behind the entire writing process.”
The accompanying video reflects that mindset, opting for a stripped-back live performance focused on atmosphere and intensity rather than narrative:
“We wanted something raw and authentic. No storyline, no distractions—just us. Between the environment, sound design and performance, it felt like the strongest way to introduce this album.”
Lyrically, the record explores themes of loneliness, isolation, and mental health, drawing from personal experience and the realities of the world around them:
“Depression, anxiety, suicide, anger, abandonment and self-worth all come into play, alongside heavier topics like abuse, war and death. The goal has always been to write lyrics that make people feel seen, heard and understood.”
Musically, Survivalist continue to blur genre lines, blending metalcore, deathcore, and groove metal influences into a sound that prioritizes impact without confinement:
“Expect huge riffs, fast and unrelenting vocals, crushing breakdowns inspired by bands like Suicide Silence and Whitechapel, balanced with melody, hooks and choruses that nod to both modern and classic metalcore.”
With their Seek And Strike debut now unleashed, Survivalist are positioning themselves as both a heavy-hitting force and a source of connection for listeners navigating similar struggles.
