Greg Puciato’s synthwave project The Black Queen have added a major piece of Dillinger Escape Plan history to their live lineup for the “Fever Daydream” 10th anniversary tour. The band announced today, May 4, that veteran drummer Chris Pennie will man the kit for the trek, marking his first major outing with the group onstage.
Pennie, who played drums with The Dillinger Escape Plan from 1997 to 2007, is now slotting into the band’s live show along with former Nine Inch Nails / A Perfect Circle member Danny Lohner, who was also tapped to join the touring lineup earlier this spring. The announcement doubles down on the project’s mathcore‑adjacent cred, given that Puciato himself fronts the band as ex‑Dillinger vocalist.
In a short, playful note, the band highlighted the significance of Pennie’s arrival:
“Some of you will understand the significance of this. Please explain it to those who don’t. He’s been with us behind the scenes for a while, but starting in Boston, with the exception of Montreal and Toronto, and for all shows going forward after that, we will have a new member onstage with us. His name is Chris Pennie. Yes he will be playing drums.”
Tickets for the spring run are already on sale, with dates currently planned across the U.S. and Canada.
