It’s been a quiet stretch for The Faceless and their co-founder, Michael Keene. The California-based progressive technical death metal band has remained inactive since 2022. Despite showing great promise across several albums, the band’s journey has been marred by lineup instability and erratic behavior over the years.
Michael Keene’s well-documented battles with drug addiction have likely been a significant factor in this instability. However, back in 2022, Keene also revealed that he had been grappling with a neurological disorder, adding further complexity to the band’s challenges.
It’s unclear whether Michael Keene is currently working on new material for The Faceless or revisiting his Slaves And Masters solo project announced back in 2018. However, on December 26th, Keene broke his long social media silence. In the comments of a post about his hairstyle, he offered an update on what he’s been up to:
“Alright boys. Settle down now. I am currently writing and recording new music after taking some much needed time off. So now that we have that cleared up, we can focus on my question. If you’re a dude, you’re welcome to answer, but just know it wasn’t my target demographic on this particular post. Hearts and kisses ♥️ “
