Swedish melodic death metal outfit The Halo Effect have just unveiled their take on Danzig’s 1992 classic “How The Gods Kill”. The track, originally featured on the Glenn Danzig-led band’s third album of the same name, gets a heavy and atmospheric reimagining from the Gothenburg supergroup.
The Halo Effect features former and current members of In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, including frontman Mikael Stanne, who shared the following on the personal significance of the song:
“During my teenage years the darkness and allure of the early Danzig albums introduced me to a whole new way of thinking about what rock and metal could be. Glenn’s vocals and lyrics were also incredibly influential on this aspiring vocalist/lyricist.”
This version of “How The Gods Kill” is set to appear on an upcoming covers EP from the band, with more information expected to be revealed soon.
